Suzuki Harunobu was born in the year of 1724. Harunobu is considered to be the "founder" of nishiki-e or polychrome prints, which are prints that have multiple colors. Harunobu's works are best known for their exquisite grace and lyrical scenes. Suzuki Harunobu was believed to have studied painting under Nishikawa Sukenobu in Kyoto. Harunobu's works were not well know or distinguished until he started to create polychrome prints that were primarily made for haiku poems. Many of Harunobu's prints are recognized by their delicate coloring, and graceful lines and figures.
